Bournemouth’s pursuit of a replacement for their departing Ghana winger Antoine Semenyo has hit a stumbling block.
The Premier League side had lined up a €40 million (£34.7m) move for Stuttgart and Germany international Jamie Leweling, but the Bundesliga club turned down the offer.
Semenyo, 25, is on the verge of joining Manchester City, leaving the Cherries eager to find a winger capable of filling the void. Leweling, who has impressed in Germany with his pace and versatility on the flanks, was seen as the ideal candidate to step into Semenyo’s shoes.
Despite Bournemouth’s significant bid, Stuttgart remain reluctant to part with their star winger, signaling potential complications for the English club as they scramble to secure reinforcements before the transfer window closes.
With Semenyo poised to join the Etihad faithfuls, Bournemouth will now have to explore alternative targets as they seek to maintain their attacking threat ahead of the new season.
