Ghana international, with admirers across Europe, has a release clause active for a set period of time in January.

Bournemouth are expecting official bids for Antoine Semenyo in January, as clubs including Liverpool finalise their plans for the mid-season window.

Semenyo, 25, has a release clause of £65m active for a set period of time in January, although it has not been disclosed whether the fee is paid in its entirety immediately or over instalments.

However, sources at the Vitality Stadium are braced for approaches for the Ghana international when the window opens in five weeks’ time, with his release fee relatively low for a Premier League player of his standing.

The forward has admirers across Europe following the start to his season where he has scored six goals, including two at Anfield on the opening weekend of the campaign.

He is well-known at Liverpool, as sporting director Richard Hughes was at Bournemouth when Semenyo was signed from Bristol City in 2023, with Crystal Palace beaten in the race to sign him for £10m at the time.

Liverpool spent more than £400m in the summer and broke the Premier League record to land Alexander Isak from Newcastle, while Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike also added attacking options.

Pep Guardiola described Semenyo as an “extraordinary” player ahead of Bournemouth’s visit to Manchester City recently.

Semenyo will not go to the African Cup of Nations as Ghana failed to qualify for the tournament starting next month. Having his clause open for a set period in January would also give Bournemouth time to replace him should he depart after two years at the club.

Telegraph Sport revealed last month that Semenyo had rejected £50m moves to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur and, instead, agreed to sign a new five-year deal with Bournemouth, including a pay rise, but with a specific release clause. He would not have signed the contract otherwise.

It is also understood that the release clause price will drop slightly next summer but not below the £50m that was rejected at the start of the last window.
