Chelsea are reportedly plotting a move to try to beat Liverpool to the signing of Red Bull Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a number of top European clubs amid reports he has a €60million (£53m) release clause in his contract.
The Germany international has scored 31 goals in all competitions for Leipzig this season and his departure would be a huge blow to the club.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of Werner and wants to sign him in the player in the next transfer window.
The player is believed to be keen on the move but the Reds are yet to meet the buyout clause, which expires on July 15.
And Chelsea are gaining hope that they could snatch the forward from under Liverpool's noses, according to The Telegraph.
Speaking on Monday, RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann admitted there is little more he can do to try and convince Werner to stay.
He told reporters: 'There is nothing we can do about it. He knows what he has in Leipzig and also what he has with me.
'I show him that — he gets many chances to develop himself. I don't know if it will help him that much if I tell him every day.
'A player has to feel that he can get better. If he doesn't feel that, it wouldn't do any good if I kept on telling him to stay here.
'In the end, it is his life, his career, he can decide that. I can't think of anything new to say to Timo.'

I wonder why more teams don't bid for him, hes 24 and has scored 20+ goals in 4 consecutive seasons and can play any position in the attacking third... Heavily underrated

Let him don’t come to Chelsea and flop like morata..cause is hard for striker to survive at Chelsea..Abraham is giving us goal more than any other striker we has bought since we sold Diego Costa...buy is not the issue, keeping form is what matters
