Regarding the transfer controversy surrounding Alvarez, former Barcelona executive Toni Freixa made controversial remarks on social media.
At the Champions League draw ceremony in Monaco, Atletico Madrid CEO Gil Marin accused people close to the player of "deceiving and misleading" him, stating that there would be no negotiations with Barcelona.
Minutes later, Barcelona vice president Rafa Yuste responded strongly, calling Gil Marin's remarks "inopportune" and "disrespectful," and accusing the other party of crossing a "red line."
Toni Freixa stated: "After hearing Gil Marin's unacceptable remarks, learning about the connection between FP (editor's note: implying Florentino Pérez) and the Atletico Madrid shareholders—which might explain that absurd €150 million offer—and facing this oppressive clause (a €490 million release clause), I hope Barcelona and Julian can make a 'checkmate' move in La Liga before Tuesday."
Freixa then explained: "If Julian pays a compensation fee to Atletico Madrid equivalent to the amount they invested to sign him plus his remaining unpaid salary, he can become a free agent, which is approximately €120 million."

No matter who the player is, am not in support of players holding clubs to ransom, Alvarez signed a deal with Atletico Madrid and he should at least show some respect to the club... he's being disrespectful with his behavior so far... let's not be fanatic here.

There is something stronger than a contract, it is callled " the will of man". Contract is paper, but ones his will is no longer in line with the contract, even his physical body will respond accordingly . Julian,s will is craving for Barca and he has already left bc his mind , his essence is no longer with Atletico and for everyone or club that understands this, knows the best option is a transfer.PSG came for Neymar, he had a contract , but his desire was to go to PSG bc of the astronomical salary increase, his desire to walk away from Messi's Shadow and to be the main man that will represent PSG.Imagine Barcelona refused to sell when the player had his heart set on his own desires.Keeping such a player against his will( though he has a contract) is devastating in the dressing room.He can decide to enter the field and not give out his best, he can just say that he is sick and unable to play.U are paying him huge amount for nothing. I bet u if Julian keeps his attitude n mood this way , Atletico will eventually let him join barca. If not now , then in january. They want to actually get rid of him, but bc its barca they wnt to raise their useless ego. Alvarez too should reject all other clubs and continue making more drama , they will sell him eventually to that same Barca. Do we support Alvarez's behaviour ....no .But ones a player has told u he wants to leave... Let him go.. get your 120 to 130m and go buy another top quality striker. If JULIAN DONT PLAY MATCHES, HIS MARKET VALUE WILL DROP . AND NO CLUB WILL BE WILLING TO PAY 120M AGAIN AND WHO WILL LOSE..? OF COURSE ATLETICO.. ALL IN ALL , IS A FOOLISH DECISION TO KEEP A PLAYER WHO DOESNOT WANT TO STAY...His will is greater than the paper u call contract.

Alvarez is still under contractual agreement to ATM. If he is willing to move on to a rival club and ATM disagrees....with due respect they are entitled to do that. Alvarez should persuade his club with sense of dignity and loyalty and not to force his way. Unless certain facts are hidden. Barcelona and Real Madrid are known for brainwashing players they desire by creating face off between the players and their legitimate clubs
