Super Falcons forward Joy Omewa has completed a move to Nottingham Forest Women, ending her successful spell with Danish side Fortuna Hjørring.
The 23-year-old striker has signed a deal with the English club that will keep her at the City Ground until the end of the 2025/26 season, as Forest continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.
Omewa arrives in England with an impressive goalscoring record. Since joining Fortuna Hjørring in 2022, she netted 52 goals in 85 league appearances, establishing herself as one of the most lethal attackers in Danish women’s football.
Her time in Denmark was also decorated with silverware, as she won the Danish Women’s Cup twice and helped the club clinch the Kvindeligaen title in the 2024/25 season.
On the international scene, Omewa has steadily risen through the ranks of Nigerian football.
She previously represented the country at both U17 and U20 levels before making her senior Super Falcons debut last year.
Reacting to the signing, Nottingham Forest Women head coach Carly Davies expressed her delight at securing the Nigerian striker, describing Omewa as a natural goalscorer capable of making an immediate impact.
“Joy’s incredible goal-scoring record speaks for itself.
She’s a dynamic forward with a real instinct in front of goal, and her consistency at both club and international level makes her a fantastic addition to our squad,” Davies said.
Omewa, meanwhile, shared her excitement about the move, stating that she is eager to begin a new chapter with an ambitious club.
“I am delighted to sign for Nottingham Forest. It’s an ambitious club and I’m excited to be part of this team.
“I can’t wait to get started and I believe I can add a lot to an already talented group,” she said.
The transfer marks another important step in Omewa’s career as she looks to make her mark in English football with Nottingham Forest Women.
