Juventus have emerged as the favourites to sign Bayern Munich defender David Alaba.
The 28-year-old's contract expires at the end of June next year, but there is a possibility that he could leave in January for a cut-price fee.
As reported by Tuttosport, Alaba's versatility is hugely appealing to Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo.
Alaba is usually deployed as a centre-back but he has vast experience of playing at left-back and can also be deployed in midfield.
In addition, Alaba's experience means he most likely wouldn't find it too difficult to adapt to Pirlo's methods if he did join Juventus.
If Juventus do pursue a move for Alaba they are set to face a considerable amount of competition, with Liverpool also considering signing him to ease their defensive concerns with Virgil van Dijk out injured.
Other high-profile clubs including Real Madrid, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring the situation.
Alaba previously criticised Bayern president Herbert Hainer for publicly announcing that the club had withdrawn their offer of a five-year contract.

very naive way to look at we will be left very vulnerable to injuries if david is let go in January especially in a year with such a congested fixture list! injuries are almost certain to be a lot more prevalent in the coming weeks of the season! we will only recieve a fee of 10 million max in January I really dont think that will influence wether we can afford a player especially one to replace some of alaba's qaulity in the summer! we make 4+ million every champions league game we win ffs! and the further we make it through the ucl and with this team winning it 2 years in a row is great possibility with as much of our best team available! we would be set to tripple and even win back 4 x that of the transfer fee just from games won and the prize money + tv rights of what we could ever hope to recover from a transfer fee from the sale of david alaba in January!!
You are absolutely spot on here..But we have some defenders like Chris Richard , Tanguy Nianzou and even Martinez can play CB..I dont want players of Alabas class leave for free..it looks a bit bad. I have that feeling he might end up signing contract with bayern and if not i dn wan him to leave for free.that is my concern..

who are these reporters ? I read that juventus want to reduce their net wages and hence might even consider selling Ronaldo if the situation doesn't improve. All clubs are financially struck. and then there are rumours that clubs are seeking after David Alaba inspite of his near 20M demands. its confusing and its irritating.

The versatility is the key for Alaba...I think the most suited position for him would be LWB... or may be the CB as well... but juve have quiet a number of CBs...but they lack quality in the LWB position... Chiesa is actually a RW or RWB...Frabotta is not yet trusted for big matches and Alex Sandro is not consistent... this is why Alaba would be a real deal for juve
