Premier League champions Liverpool have announced several changes in Arne Slot's coaching staff, including appointing Giovanni van Bronckhorst as Arne Slot's new assistant.

Van Bronckhorst, 50, most recently served as the head coach of Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas before his dismissal in November 2024. Prior to his Turkish venture, the former Arsenal, Barcelona, and Rangers left-back was the head coach at Feyenoord, Rangers, and Chinese outfit Guangzhou R&F.

With Feyenoord, the 106-time Dutch international won the club's first Eredivisie title in 17 years as well as two KNVB Beker titles. Van Bronckhorst also won the Scottish Cup with Rangers and made the 2021-22 UEFA Europa League final with the Scottish giants before laying claim to the Turkish Super Cup with Besiktas in 2024.

Van Bronckhorst replaces John Heitinga in Arne Slot's coaching staff. The former Everton defender left his post in May to take up the position of head coach at Ajax.

Goalkeeping changes

Along with Van Bronckhorst, Slot has brought in Spanish goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero following the departure of Fabian Otte and former World Cup winner Claudio Taffarel.

Valero previously worked at Liverpool under Rafael Benitez, who the goalkeeping coach would follow to Internazionale, Chelsea, Napoli, and Real Madrid. Valero last worked at West Ham, whom he joined in 2018 from Hebei China Fortune.

Otte leaves Liverpool after one club, whereas Claudio Taffarel bids Anfield goodbye after four years.
