According to L’Équipe, Manchester United target Nuno Mendes (21) has closed the door to a potential departure from Paris Saint-Germain and now sees himself staying with the French capital club for the foreseeable future. The player’s entourage believes he is now most likely to sign a new contract to extend his stay even further at the Parc des Princes.
An air of doubt had developed over the Portuguese international’s long-term future with the Ligue 1 champions especially after Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim highlighted the defender as a potential target. However, any prospective move may have been hard for the Premier League outfit to negotiate in the winter window.
These doubts have now been eradicated following the latest developments on Mendes’ future with PSG. L’Équipe understands Luis Enrique was reportedly instrumental in convincing the 21-year-old to commit his future to Les Parisiens with the former Barcelona boss seeing the left-back as a large part of his project with the Ligue 1 giants.
