Man Utd transfer round-up: C.Ronaldo 'offer', Neves talks, Mata latest

The dust has only just settled on Portugal's exit from Euro 2020, but Manchester United have reportedly made their move for the country's captain.

Cristiano Ronaldo was in scintillating form at the tournament to remind fans he is still as lethal in front of goal as ever at the age of 36.

As such, it is no surprise there are many top clubs keeping a close eye on the Juventus ace, with the latest reports suggesting United have stolen a march on their rivals.

Elsewhere, there is an update on Juan Mata's future at Old Trafford, while the Red Devils are believed to have entered the race for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves.

Man Utd make Cristiano Ronaldo offer

Manchester United are the only team to have submitted a contract offer to Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Serie A-centric outlet  Cult Of Calcio  .

The report claims the deal is worth half of Ronaldo's current contract, which sees him take home an eye-watering €31million (£27m) per year after tax.

This has left the 36-year-old Portugal legend facing a decision over his future, as he could either see out the final year of his lucrative Juve deal or take a pay cut and push for a move this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are also monitoring the situation but both clubs are biding their time before tabling formal offers.

Meanwhile, Italian outlet  La Gazzetta dello Sport  claims Juventus are not nervous about Ronaldo's potential departure, as they have lined up many replacements.

Among their targets in attack are Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus, Fiorentina's Dusan Vlahovic and PSG's Mauro Icardi, although the Turin giants still expect Ronaldo to stay.

Mata's Old Trafford preference

Juan Mata would like to remain at Manchester United even though his contract expired when the clock struck midnight last night, according to the  Manchester Evening News  .

The 33-year-old has been on the Red Devils' books since January 2014 but he has fallen down the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

As such, Old Trafford chiefs have reservations about activating a clause in Mata's contract which would keep him for another year.

The expected arrival of Jadon Sancho will further increase the competition for minutes in attack, meaning Mata's future remains uncertain despite his preference to stay at United.

Red Devils' Neves talks

Manchester United have entered negotiations to sign Ruben Neves from Wolves in order to bolster Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's midfield, according to Eurosport .

Neves, 24, has been an eye-catching performer for the Molineux club and has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal for a fee in the region of £35million.

But the Red Devils are prepared to rival the Gunners for the Portuguese midfielder, and a transfer to Old Trafford would see him link up with international colleague Bruno Fernandes.
