As soon as Real Madrid were eliminated from the Champions League, it appeared as though we were destined to see Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo face off in the Champions League final.
But that's no longer possible as Ajax ran riot in Turin and sent Juventus packing, just as they did in Madrid.
The Portuguese, who often disappears in the group stage, rises in the knockout rounds. He scored the opener on Tuesday night, after scoring in Amsterdam, but Ajax came back to win 2-1. His hat-trick against Atletico Madrid dragged the Old Lady to the quarter-finals, but then they fell.
The tenth anniversary of Rome
Meanwhile, Messi is still powering his way to the Wanda Metropolitano. The No.10 bagged two against Manchester United and already has 10 goals in this season's tournament.
It's almost ten years since the pair met in the 2009 final, when Messi scored an incredible header as Barcelona blew away Cristiano and United.
Perhaps that was the first and last time they'll face off in the final as the clock continues to tick on their respective careers.

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate what Messi has done this season? It’s been absolutely absurd but I don’t hear anybody talking about it. In champions league he has 10 goals in only 8 matches, with an added 3 assists. A goal every 66 minutes! Crazy. In LaLiga, he has 33 goals in 28 matches with 72 minutes for a goal. And also 12 assists. Another two goals and assists in Copa Del Ray, and you have just an absolutely out of this world performance. You can say Messi is like WiFi and that he’s just staying at one of the best teams in the world, but Messi MAKES this team one of if not the best team in the game. I’ve never watched the old greats play, but I know for sure that Messi is the greatest player of this generation.

I'm so thankful that VAR is in the UCL. If that wasn't the case its a possibility the result would have been different in both games. With VAR, it's very hard for the cheaters to cheat. Tonight could have been a night where currupt refereeing could've probably decide the games (like in the past) because of club and player popularity. Thank god no more cheat penalties and offside goals. Since the inclusion of VAR, there have been a drastic decline of goals and pk for certain players.... Its much more difficult now for the rich clubs to buy out any game in order for certain players to be highlighted and hyped. Gone are the days when currupt refereeing are used as a marketing tool for certain players.

And to make the day even more perfect,Juventus gets eliminated from the champions league finally. I didn't want them to go lucky and reach the champions league final and you ofcourse khow how people would start saying Ronaldo is the goat and this nonsense. Ronaldo is a finisher and he can't carry a team, for one to carry a team he needs to be like Messi! Not only scoring goals from inside the box,but being involved in more than this, just like lionel. #Aim10
