With Leonardo Jardim set to leave his role as Monaco head coach, Monaco are reportedly ready to launch a bid to bring Marcelino in as his replacement.

Jardim won the 2016/17 Ligue 1 title with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Bernardo Silva in his team and began his second stint at the Stade Louis II in January 2019.

However, according to Nice Matin and reported by L'Equipe, the Portuguese coach has already packed away his belongings at the training ground.

Not even a 5-1 win over Lille in their last match before Christmas could change the mind of the Monaco board and the idea is that Jardim leaves the club before the squad return to training on December 29.

Once Jardim is out of the door, Monaco want to make former Valencia boss Marcelino his replacement.

The Spaniard left Los Che in September and is the first choice candidate from the Monaco board's point of view.

Another candidate for the position is Robert Moreno, who was relieved of his duties as Spain coach in November, and is believed to be highly regarded by the club owned by Dmitry Rybolovlev.
