Arsenal target Monchi insists he has yet to make a decision about his future.

The transfer guru left Roma this week as part of an overhaul at the Serie A giants which saw Claudio Ranieri return as manager.

Monchi, full name Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, has held talks with the Gunners with a view to replacing Sven Mislintat as technical director.

But he told Pagine Romaniste : "I have not decided my future yet.

"I do not think it’s time to examine these things. It’s time to remember beautiful things."

Monchi left Roma a day after coach Eusebio Di Francesco's dismissal.

Chief executive Guido Fienga said: "I want to put on record our thanks to Monchi for his dedication during his time at the club and we wish him all the best for his future endeavours in football."

The Spaniard played as a goalkeeper for Sevilla and retired in 1999 aged 30.

He went on to spend 17 years as sporting director at Los Rojiblancos before joining Roma in 2017.

Monchi said: "I would like to thank President Pallotta, the club's management, staff, players and fans for their support during my time at the club.

"I wish Roma a lot of success in the future."

Frederic Massara will look after the club's sporting operations following Monchi's departure.
