Napoli and Ajax are both set to launch January bids for Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen, according to reports.
Vertonghen is in the final six months of his contract at Spurs, meaning foreign clubs are now permitted to speak to him and discuss a pre-contract ahead of next season.
Napoli failed with a summer bid for the Belgium international, but the Telegraph reports that the Serie A club have revived their interest.
The club's new manager, Gennaro Gattuso, is keen to bolster his back four and sees the 32-year-old as the perfect candidate to provide quality and experience.
Ajax, who sold Vertonghen to Tottenham for £12 million seven years ago, are also keen on re-signing the centre-back.
After Daley Blind was diagnosed with a heart condition last week, Ajax have stepped up their search for a new defender.
Both Ajax and Napoli are keen to sign Vertonghen immediately rather than wait for his contract to expire and are hopeful of tempting Spurs to sell and avoid losing him for free in the summer.
Despite the doubts over his future, Vertonghen remains a key fixture in Spurs' back four and has made 21 appearances this season.
If he does leave in January, the former defender will bring the curtain down on a seven-year stay in north London, during which he's clocked up 302 appearances and scored 13 goals.
