OFFICIAL: Barcelona sign 32-year-old Cancelo on a free transfer, player terminates contract with Al Hilal early
Barcelona stated in an official announcement: "Cancelo has reached an agreement with FC Barcelona, and the Portuguese player will join the team. The full-back has joined as a free agent and signed a contract expiring on June 30, 2029.
Cancelo first joined Barcelona in September 2023, loaned from Manchester City. That season, he made 42 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 4 goals and providing 5 assists. Subsequently, Cancelo was signed by the Saudi team Al-Hilal. At the beginning of this year, Cancelo joined Barcelona for the second time on loan from Al-Hilal. He made 23 appearances for Barcelona in the second half of the season, scoring 2 goals and providing 4 assists, helping Barcelona win the La Liga title for the 25/26 season
After the season ended, Barcelona hoped to sign Cancelo permanently, and Cancelo himself was very keen to continue playing for Barcelona; he did not represent Al-Hilal in their first match of the new Saudi Pro League season. After a period of negotiation, Cancelo mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Al-Hilal and gave up part of his salary, subsequently joining Barcelona officially as a free agent.

This is someone who loves the club. Thank you, Cancelo for loving Barcelona. I wonder where Barcelona would be if not for bad leaders who destroyed the club. The club is not financially stable but players want to join it. There are very few football clubs of this kind. We can all agree that Real Madrid and Barcelona are dream clubs for most good footballers. It seems like football is not complete until you play for either Madrid or Barcelona.
