OFFICIAL: Dortmund sign Chelsea's Carney Chukwuemeka with a contract until 2030

Dortmund announce that they sign Chelsea's Carney Chukwuemeka with a contract until 2030.

Borussia Dortmund has signed Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea. The 21-year-old, who was already on loan for BVB in the second half of the last season and during the FIFA Club World Cup, has now committed to the eight-time German champions on a permanent basis until June 30, 2030.

"It was important to us to further improve the quality and creativity in our attacking midfield. We are delighted that we have been able to secure such a great talent as Carney for the long term and can now work together on his development," said Borussia Dortmund Managing Director Lars Ricken.

"Carney has enormous potential, which he has already demonstrated with us in the second half of the season. He can make the difference by consistently finding solutions in tight spaces and gives us an additional footballing element in midfield, which is very beneficial for us," said BVB Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl.

Chukwuemeka absolvierte in der vergangenen Saison bereits 17 Pflichtspiele für Borussia Dortmund (1 Tor) und wird „seine“ Rückennummer 17 behalten. Er sagt: „Es fühlt sich richtig gut an, jetzt fester Bestandteil des BVB zu sein. Ich habe diesen Klub, den Trainer, meine Teamkollegen und die Fans in den vergangenen Monaten kennengelernt und bin einfach nur froh, dass Borussia Dortmund jetzt meine neue fußballerische Heimat ist. Ich werde alles dafür geben, damit wir als Mannschaft unsere Ziele erreichen.“
