CLUB OFFICIAL STATEMENT

West Ham United can confirm that young defender Kaelan Casey has joined Swansea City on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old heads to the Championship to gain valuable first-team experience having travelled with the Hammers to Germany and the United States, where he started in the 2-1 win over Everton in the Premier League Summer Series.

Casey, who has been with the Academy since the age of five, made his senior debut in a 3-0 UEFA Europa Conference League victory over FCSB in November 2022. That same season, he helped the U18s secure a historic double, winning both the U18 Premier League South and the FA Youth Cup, winning all 17 games that he featured in.

During that run, Casey scored four goals from centre-back, including one in the 5-1 FA Youth Cup final win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Since then, the defender has made his Premier League debut, coming on as a substitute in the final game of the 2023/24 season against Luton Town, earned eight caps for England’s Elite Squad (U20s), and transitioned full-time into the first-team set-up. Last season, Casey was named on the bench eight times in the Premier League while also captaining the U21s in both Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy.

Everyone at West Ham United wishes Kaelan the very best for his loan spell and looks forward to monitoring his continued development with Swansea City.
