On July 14, Villarreal officially announced that they had extended the contract of 21-year-old defender Pau Navarro until 2031.
Pau Navarro's original contract was set to expire in 2030. Following this extension, the agreement between both parties will now run until June 2031. Villarreal's official statement indicated that this renewal signifies the club's continued commitment to "building the future," much like their ongoing renovation of the Estadio de la Cerámica and the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground facilities. In line with this concept, the club also produced a video to announce the contract extension via social media.
"Because investing in youth development means much more than just building fields; it means trusting the people who step onto them every day," Villarreal's official Twitter account wrote.
Navarro (born April 25, 2005, in La Vall d'Uixó) has become a key member of Villarreal's defense thanks to his consistency and outstanding performances with the first team. To date, the 21-year-old defender has made 46 appearances for the club. Last season, he cemented his place in the starting lineup and delivered impressive performances toward the end of the campaign, helping Villarreal secure third place in La Liga.
Through this contract extension, Pau Navarro will remain at his home. He joined Villarreal's youth academy at the age of eight from his hometown team and has since progressed through the Yellow Submarine's ranks over 12 seasons, ultimately making it to the first team.
