Jadon Sancho is in exile at Manchester United as he waits for a new club to come forward after two other potential exits failed to materialise in the summer transfer window

Besiktas are hoping to complete a deal to sign Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho after a succession of other deals fell through.

Sancho is in exile at United alongside fellow unwanted players Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia. The bomb squad group, which previously also included Marcus Rashford before he left for Barcelona, have been told they have no future under Ruben Amorim and are looking for new clubs.

Sancho spent last season on loan with Chelsea, but they turned down the opportunity to sign him permanently, deciding they would rather stump up a £5million fee than pay £25m for his services. He has since agreed terms with Fenerbahce and Juventus, only for those deals to fall at the last hurdle.

The 25-year-old has less than a year left on his contract with United, but his £300,000 wages are providing a stumbling block towards any exit. Borussia Dortmund and Roma have both shown an interest, yet it is Besiktas who could jump to the front of the queue after club president Serdal Adali spoke out.

“Just as much as the community wants him, I want him too,” he told Turkiye Today. “What matters is not only our desire, but also if the player wants to come to Turkey. We have a budget, and we will do our best to bring him here.

“Players like Jadon Sancho usually prefer clubs playing in the Champions League. Whether it happens today or not, it is hard to say. If it is possible, we will get him. Besiktas fans can rest assured.”

Besiktas’ fans are extremely keen to sign Sancho, having bombarded his Instagram account with over five million messages reading “Come to Besiktas”.

However, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Sancho does not share the enthusiasm of the Besiktas fanbase and isn’t keen on a move to Turkey at this stage of his career. Instead, he is planning to wait for interest in Italy to turn into an offer.

But despite Gian Piero Gasperini’s interest in Sancho, Roma reportedly don’t have the funds available to pay his wages. Roma would need to move on some of their unwanted players first, but Inter Milan have also been mooted as suitors in Italian reports.

Besiktas are managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was in charge of United when Sancho was signed for £73m from Dortmund back in 2021 The move did not work out, with Sancho returning just 12 goals and six assists in 83 matches for the club. Sancho did better on loan with Chelsea, with five goals and 10 assists in 41 games last season.

He helped the Blues win the Conference League but the club surprisingly opted against signing him permanently. Sancho did not go on United’s pre-season tour of the United States and is now waiting patiently for a new club to come forward ahead of the deadline on September 1.
