On February 12, Inter Milan's beat reporter Pasquale Guaro reported that the Nerazzurri have no intention of bringing back Benjamin Pavard, who is currently on loan at Marseille.
Recent media reports indicate that Marseille does not intend to activate the €15 million buy-out option in Pavard's loan agreement.
According to Pasquale Guaro, the catalyst for Inter Milan's decision to let Pavard leave last summer was Chivu's decision to bench the French star in the second round of the league. The player's team subsequently expressed their dissatisfaction to Inter's management, but that call had disastrous consequences, leading Inter to decide to let Pavard go and immediately sign Akanji.
The report further states that both Marseille fans and management are currently dissatisfied with Pavard's performance. Several months ago, Inter received a call from Marseille requesting a reduction in the €15 million buy-out clause in the loan agreement. Given the current situation, Marseille is likely to abandon the option to buy the French international.
Pasquale Guaro also pointed out that Marseille's possible decision not to exercise their option to buy Pavard would be a problem for Inter Milan, as they had already decided not to let the defensive star wear the blue and black stripes again, believing he would not return when they loaned him out.
