Inter Milan are serious about their interest in signing Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic. Italian outlet 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' has revealed the figures the club are prepared to offer the Croatian to move to the San Siro. He would sign a deal until 2022 on a salary of 6.5 million euros net per season.
According to the report, Rakitic would earn one million euros more than he currently does at Barça and would have the chance to play in a league he was twice close to joining in the past: in 2007 before he went to Schalke when Juventus wanted him and in 2011 when Milan wanted to sign him before his move to Sevilla.
On a personal level, Rakitic will also weight up some important aspects. His partner, Raquel Mauri, would be delighted to live in Milan, a city big on fashion. He would also be closer to Basel -- around 300kms away -- which is where his parents live.
The conditions for the player are positive, but Barça coach Ernesto Valverde remains reluctant to losing the midfielder.

Inter are hellbent on getting whatever scraps they can from the Spanish big 3. Vrsaljko, Modric, Godín, now Rakitic. Modric & Godín are both in the end of their prime, whilst Rakitic likely won't have too long left either(and Valverde seems to love him to death). If you can only get world class players once they are near the end, why not just go for something younger & more dynamic instead of stopgaps?

We did buy Gabigol and Joao Mario. Look how those turned out? And then Skriniar turned out great! So it's not an exact science. It's a gamble, and if a club is in a healthy financial position they can afford to take that gamble. Remember when Real signed Nuri Sahin? It didn't work out but Madrid weren't completely ruined by it either. Milan bought Calhanoglu last season and he didn't perform well. It's only this season he's playing better. They bought all those players and their best player turned out to be Patrick Cutrone. It's a gamble. The risk of a proven champion underperforming, while it still happens (see: Nemanja Vidic) is much lower.
