Indian cricket legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni's has shared a photo of his daughter Ziva wearing a signed Lionel Messi shirt, celebrating their 'common love' of Argentina's World Cup winning captain.

Messi was instrumental in his nation's first World Cup triumph for 36 years, and was named player of the tournament after scoring twice in the final in Qatar.

The 35-year-old, who is now widely considered the greatest footballer of all time, lifted the World Cup after Argentina overcame France 4-2 on penalties following a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Ziva Dhoni, the seven-year-old daughter of India's two-time Cricket World Cup winner MS Dhoni, was seen wearing an Argentina shirt signed by Messi on his official Instagram account.

Messi signed the shirt with the message 'Para Ziva' - meaning 'for Ziva'.

Dhoni captioned his post 'Like father, like daughter', confirming their 'common love' for Messi.

During the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, an old tweet from MS Dhoni resurfaced having posted 'I love Messi' back in 2014.

The former Indian cricket captain is a well-known football fan, having been seen playing the sport with team-mates throughout his career.

Dhoni is the co-owner of Chennaiyin FC, a franchise in the Indian Super League.
