Marcelino is making special preparations for the weekend visit to the Camp Nou to face Barcelona with a rigorously defensive training session.
Lionel Messi, like for most teams, has been a constant thorn in Valencia's side, scoring 28 goals against Los Che over the years.
However, Marcelino was successful in stopping Messi during last season's Copa del Rey final triumph for Valencia, and the coach is looking for another disciplined display to reduce the Argentine's threat.
On Tuesday, Marcelino guided his players through an intense session of three-against-two drills, in which the centre-backs had to avoid being overrun by the forwards, before a more tactical focus ensued.
Marcelino was fully involved in the session, yelling specific instructions to his players throughout
"Don't drop, be patient, be careful, don't go to ground, use your weaker foot," were some of the orders for Ezequiel Garay, Gabriel Paulista, Mouctar Diakhaby, Jaume Costa and company trying to stop the forwards.
