The controversy rumbles on from Milan-Lazio, as a politician called Tiemoue Bakayoko and Franck Kessie showing off Francesco Acerbi’s jersey “unworthy of the values of sport.”
The incident occurred after several days of social media ‘banter’ in which Acerbi said there was “no comparison” between the two teams.
Acerbi exchanged jerseys with Bakayoko to put an end to the tension, but instead the Milan midfielder and teammate Kessie waved it in front of the Milan supporters like a trophy.
“Sport is healthy competition and fair play,” Undersecretary for Sport Giancarlo Giorgetti told news agency Ansa.
“Showing off the jersey of another player to mock him is first of all a stupid gesture, but also undignified and unworthy of the values of sport, as well as unworthy of the jerseys they are wearing.
“I hope that the right action is taken to stigmatise what happened.”
Milan Coach Gennaro Gattuso already apologised during his Press conference and said there would be extra training sessions rather than let players “twiddle their thumbs” on phones, while suggesting big clubs limit use of social media.
Bakayoko and Kessie later apologised via social media, insisting it was only meant in jest and not as an insult.

I would say it's funny but what I really dislike is that Baka got that shirt from Acerbi himself, clearly in a sign of peace. This is a betrayal.

This is awesome banter and all but I’m sure we will get fined for this, and don’t forget we still have to play them in the cup, so they will now be even more fired up, and it’s not like we dominated last night

Be bigger in victory than that.

This is disappointing from Bakayoko. No need for these shenanigans right now. Put your head down and focus on the next match. I can see Leonardo and Maldini giving them lectures about respect.

Happy for the win but if this had been the other way around this sub would be imploding with entitled outrage. Let’s take the 3 points and focus on CL, no need to deviate with drama. This just makes the Coppa fixture that more heated.

Sorry but I can't support this. After games of this type you need to keep your head down, stay humble and keep working as there is much work left to do. This is disrespecting to your opponent who exchanged his jersey with Milan player not knowing he'll be humiliated afterwards. And for what, cause guy said his team is better? No need for that whatsoever.

I get that what Acerbi said was disrespectful but I feel like parading his jersey around the pitch wasn’t warranted. Doesn’t seem professional and leaves a bad taste in everybody’s mouth. Would much rather win gracefully.

That was a bit disrespectful but he deserved it.

Oh this is going to be fun. As a fan, I CANNOT get mad at this, because this is awesome. But I see how this can generate some nasty backlash for the people involved. I hope it won't happen, but some punishment will probably strike from above, and we cannot lose pieces right now.

He bossed that midfield with Kessie like a madman. SMS and Alberto looked like kindergarden players. Only if we had decent wingers who can score goals and make decisions.

They went on and requested his shirt only to mock hip up. Ugly. Opta.
