It's official. After all the speculation, Sergio Ramos really is leaving Real Madrid this summer.
The club's longest-serving player, signed as a 19-year-old from Sevilla in 2015, is moving on to pastures new having failed to agree a contract extension with the club.
Ramos won 22 trophies during 16 explosive years at the Bernabeu, which has also not been without controversy. As Ramos gets set for a new adventure, Sportsmail narrows down the Spaniard's best and worst moments in a Real shirt.
BEST MOMENTS
5) 2016 UEFA Super Cup - Last-minute header vs Sevilla
It's not his most famous stoppage-time goal - more on that later - but his header in the 2016 UEFA Super Cup final summed up Ramos' influence on Real Madrid down the years.
Trailing by a goal against former club Sevilla, Ramos leapt highest to head a dramatic equaliser in Trondheim.
Needles to say, Real went on to win 3-2 - thanks to Dani Carvajal's goal in extra-time - and Ramos lifted the Super Cup for the first time as captain, another trophy to add to the cabinet.
4) First LaLiga title, 2006-07
For all of Ramos' success, it wasn't always plain-sailing, particularly in his opening eight years at the club.
Amid an era of Barcelona-led dominance, Real were often second-best. But his first trophy with the club - the 2006-07 LaLiga triumph on the final day of the season - saw Ramos as one of the first names on the team-sheet, alongside numerous Galacticos.
He played 33 times in the league - more than any other outfield player - at right back, where he started his career. Who played ahead of him? None other than David Beckham.
3) Brace in 2014 Champions League semi-finals
Though he ended up with four European Cups, the first was a long-time coming - nine years after moving to the Bernabeu.
In the 2013-14 semis, holding a 1-0 first-leg lead, Ramos took the tie away from Bayern Munich with two headers in a matter of minutes at the Allianz Arena.
The first from a corner, the second from a free-kick - both powered into the same corner beyond Manuel Neuer. Finally, having been knocked out of the semi-finals in the past three years, Real cracked the last-four curse.
2) First captain to win three straight Champions League trophies
After Iker Casillas' acrimonious departure in 2015, Ramos took over as club captain - and boy did he hit the ground running.
Following Rafael Benitez's removal as head coach, ex-team-mate Zinedine Zidane stepped in. What followed? Three Champions League triumphs, against Atletico, Juventus and then Liverpool.
Ramos headlined in all three, in particular in 2016 when he scored against Atletico in a match which they won on penalties at the San Siro.
But as he lifted the trophy for the third successive year in 2018, he made history as he became the first captain to do just that. He was actually the first captain to win back-to-back titles anyway - but that wasn't enough!
1) Equaliser in 2014 Champions League final vs Atletico Madrid
No doubt, the best moment of his Real Madrid career.
With La Decima and city bragging rights on the line in Lisbon, Real felt their big moment slipping away at the hands of their rivals, 1-0 down deep into stoppage-time.
But, with hope all but lost, Ramos rose to perfection from an out-swinging corner to head inch-perfectly beyond Thibaut Courtois.
Cue bedlam. The relief was palpable. Real went on to win 4-1 in extra-time and Ramos had won the greatest prize in club football for the first time.
WORST MOMENTS
5) Dropping Copa del Rey trophy, 2011
We start what is a list full of controversy with something of a lighter moment.
As he celebrated Real's Copa del Rey triumph in 2011 - following an extra-time win against Barcelona - a hot-headed Ramos got a little too excited aboard the open-top bus.
The Spaniard dropped the trophy and despite calls for the driver to stop, the bus ran over the trophy with the right-front wheel! Much to Ramos' relief, the trophy was actually recovered in one piece.
4) Injuring Mo Salah/Loris Karius, 2018 Champions League Final
Whilst he did make history after claiming his third European Cup as captain in 2018, Ramos was certainly the pantomime villain that night in Kiev.
First, he injured Liverpool's star player Mohamed Salah in the first-half, after wrapping his arm amid a challenge which caused the Egyptian to leave the pitch with a shoulder problem.
Then, mere minutes before his mistake, Reds keeper Loris Karius was on the end of a needless shove from Ramos at a set-piece, which was later confirmed to have concussed the German.
Mind you, do we think Ramos cared? Not one bit, with another Champions League winners medal around his neck.
3) Four red cards in first season
In a sequence which seemed never-ending, we have the final total: Ramos received 26 red cards - eight of them straight sendings-off - during his Real Madrid career.
A stunning level of ill-discipline. But, perhaps Madrid fans should have seen it coming. In his first season, he picked up four red cards between September 2005 and May 2006.
He had the full collection of dismissals too: one for handball, another for a dangerous tackle, one for fighting with a substitute and one for two bookable offences!
2) Missed penalty vs Bayern, 2012 Champions League semi-finals
In a season where Jose Mourinho's side overturned Barcelona's domestic dominance, they could not match that success in Europe.
It was heartbreak in the semis again. The semi-final tie against Bayern went to penalties on home-turf and, stepping up second, Ramos blazed his penalty high over the bar.
At this point, it looked like Real would never complete La Decima - and Ramos was a laughing stock online for his wayward spot-kick.
1) Red card vs Barcelona, November 2010 El Clasico
Ramos was sent-off five times against Barcelona, three of which were straight reds. Hot-headed? Just a little bit.
But his first, in the famous 2011 El Clasico when Barca won 5-0 at the Nou Camp, was his lowest moment.
After clattering into Lionel Messi with a recklessly dangerous challenge, he shoved Carles Puyol and then Xavi in the face.
Hard to believe they were World Cup-winning team-mates just months earlier. For all his attributes, there's no doubt Ramos was capable of losing his composure in heated moments.

And he's still better than all your Defenders both past and present 🤣🤣
I knew a not so smart will make comparisons... so you think I love him because he is horrible or what? if I love him its because he is great at what he does... but then again some of you live for the toxicity...

How will I explain to my generation that Ramos joined Real Madrid at the age of 19yrs from Sevilla in 2015 but he’s now 35yrs. From 2015-2021, he’s supposed to be 25years or is All football App suffering from typographical error disease??

you know what sucks the most, el clasico went from messi vs ronaldo, alves vs mercelo, pique vs ramos etc, footballing power house vs footballing power house, etc.. to crying about which one has/hasn't between getafe, who lost to a bigger team in the Champions League, no with ramos leaving and potentially messi and pique as well, we truly have finished a wonderful cycle, hopefully we both can reach the peaks we once ruled.
