Borussia Dortmund are reportedly closing in on the loan signings of Manchester United's Jadon Sancho and Chelsea's Ian Maatsen with the pair targeting much needed game time.

The Bundesliga side are hopeful Sancho could join the team on their training camp in Marbella next week as talks continue over a six month loan.

Dortmund have offered around £3million to bring Sancho back to the club, where he was a fan favourite between 2017 to 2021, before a £73m switch to Old Trafford.

Sancho has been training on his own for four months after falling out with Man United boss Erik ten Hag, leading to the Red Devils seeking to offload the winger.

Should Sancho's return be confirmed, he would likely return to Dortmund's right wing position where he played the majority of his 137 games for the club previously.

Sancho, who scored 50 goals and won the German Cup and Super Cup at the club, would likely push Donyell Malen out of the starting eleven.

Malen has played 23 times for Dortmund this season, but the Dutchman has been strongly linked with a January departure from the club.

The addition of Sancho could lead to a dynamic trio behind striker Niclas Fullkrug, with the England international joining Julian Brandt and left winger Karim Adeyemi.

Maatsen has played a variety of positions across his 15 appearances for Chelsea this season, but the Dutchman would likely take up the left back role he starred in for Burnley in the Championship last season.

The 21-year-old would compete for a starting role with Ramy Bensebaini, who has featured 21 times for Dortmund so far this campaign.

Maatsen could slot into a defence containing Nico Schlotterbeck, Mats Hummels and Thomas Meunier ahead of goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.

Edin Terzic can also count on the experienced central midfield pairing of Emre Can and Marcel Sabitzer as Dortmund seek to recover a stuttering Bundesliga campaign.

Last season's runners-up are currently fifth in the table, 15 points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen and six adrift of the Champions League places.

Dortmund will also face PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League last-16 after impressively topping their group ahead of PSG, AC Milan and Newcastle.

Possible Borussia Dortmund XI: Kobel; Meunier, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Maatsen; Can, Sabitzer; Sancho, Brandt, Adeyemi; Fullkrug
