Tuchel laughs off suggestions he will react to PSG's loss by signing Messi

Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel laughed when asked whether he will react to this Champions League final defeat by signing Lionel Messi, saying transfers would be discussed in the coming days.

Bayern Munich's stars said their 'crazy spirit' was behind their triumph on Sunday night as Paris Saint-Germain's £366million duo Neymar and Kylian Mbappe were left heartbroken in Lisbon.

In a live interview on BT Sport, Tuchel was asked about Messi, who is rumoured to be unhappy in Barcelona. Responding, the PSG boss said: 'Which coach says no to Messi? We decided not to talk about transfers – not one transfer in this period. We will sit together in the next days. We have many things to do to improve the squad.

'I think Messi finishes his career in Barcelona. He is Barcelona.'

Serge Gnabry, famously overlooked by Arsenal and West Brom, spoke afterwards about how Bayern's togetherness was the key ingredient in them being crowned the kings of Europe.

It saw the German giants win the Champions League for the first time since 2013 and clinch a 2019-20 treble. Gnabry said: 'Winning that trophy is the best thing that could have happened.

'The spirit we talk about came through and we are the best team in Europe. It was always going to be a difficult game. They have incredible talent up front with Neymar, Mbappe and Angel Di Maria.

'Luckily they didn't score and I'm happy we did. The King (Kingsley Coman) helped us extremely. For him to come in and score was incredible. It has always been said the spirit in this group is crazy. We have strong bond. Hopefully we can build on it.'

Bayern's highly-rated left back Alphonso Davies was doused in water by his team-mates while conducting an interview live on BT.

Asked about this young talented team, Davies said: 'Coming to this club legends had won this title before. You want to keep that tradition going. Every young player is hungry to win titles as we saw our idols do it.'

Coman scored the winner after being given the nod ahead of Ivan Perisic on Bayern's left wing – a big call by boss Hans-Dieter Flick.

Rio Ferdinand on BT said: 'That was a big decision to play Coman, bringing him out of the cold. He was magnificent. They had that mentality and had the control. They took the stuffing out of them.'

Owen Hargreaves, who won the Champions League with Bayern in 2001, added: 'They call him (Coman) 'the King' around the training ground. He played like a young king. For a guy who does not start every game he played with loads of confidence.'

PSG coach Thomas Tuchel said: 'I had a feeling before that maybe the first goal decides this match. It's a pity we couldn't do it.'
