Fans are left in awe after Araujo is 'destroyed' by Vinicius's brilliant skill

In an already tense El Clasico, things got even more heated between Ronald Araujo and Vinicius Jr after the pair locked horns in the Copa Del Rey clash on Wednesday night.

Real Madrid blew Barcelona away at the Spotify Camp Nou in the second leg of the semi-final tie, coming back from 1-0 down to win 4-1 on aggregate in their nemesis' back yard.

And Vinicius Jr was pivotal for Los Blancos on Wednesday night with a goal and an assist, as well as winning a penalty for Karim Benzema to bag the second goal in his hat-trick.

The Brazilian has proven a tricky customer for most defenders he has come up against this season, but he asserted his dominance emphatically over Barca's Araujo, who has previously shown himself capable of handling the forward.

But a brilliant piece of skill capped an impressive performance against the Uruguayan, combining a dummy and a step-over to leave Araujo swiping at thin air just outside his own penalty area.

Just after the interval, with the Brazilian already having put his side 1-0 up on the night, he received the ball wide on the left by the corner flag.

The 22-year-old then drew Araujo - deployed at right-back - in, feigned to go right with the step-over, before dropping his shoulder and bursting to the left, skinning the defender and leaving him in no man's land.

Vinicius Jr burst into the box but his pass was well blocked, although Benzema would go on to score just three minutes later for his first in a 30-minute hat-trick - becoming the first Real player since 1963 to do so at the Camp Nou.

Viewers were left stunned by the Brazilian's impressive show of skill, with one writing: 'Where was he going? Vini sent him to another dimension.'

A second added: 'His soul left his body.'

One third suggested: 'He's going home.'

A fourth claimed: 'For the first time in this fixture I can say that Vinicius Jnr had the better of Araujo.'

And finally one viewer stated: 'Araujo was sent packing. Best Barca defender on his way home.'

Araujo was clearly far from impressed, and in the 84th minute with the Blaugrana staring down the barrel of defeat shoved the Brazilian to the ground in a show of frustration, picking up a booking in the process.

In total, 11 players were shown a yellow card in the game with Barca boss Xavi also being cautioned for complaints outside his technical area in a heated Clasico clash.

Barca may be cruising towards a well-deserved LaLiga title this season, but they were denied a domestic treble by their most bitter rivals, who humiliated them in front of their home crowd.

Chants for Lionel Messi could be heard in the 10th minute of the game, with Barca reportedly interested in bringing the Argentina star back to the club once his contract at PSG expires at the end of the season.
