Socceroos midfielder Jackson Irvine was left starstruck after Manchester United ace Casemiro recognised him at a recent awards ceremony.

The Red Devils star and Irvine ran into each other backstage at the FIFPRO World 11 awards in Paris, where the Brazilian star was selected in the top 11 from a shortlist of 26 players.

The World 11, which is voted for by the players, takes into account performances from August 8, 2021 to December 18, 2022.

Irvine, who was at the event as a member of FIFPRO's Global Player Council, was captured on video posing for a photograph with Casemiro.

After the pic was taken the former Real Madrid star looked at Irvine and said, 'You play for Australia, no?'

'Yeah,' replied a stunned Irvine.

'I know, I see you,' says Casemiro.

'Wow,' says they Aussie as the Brazilian leaves the room.

Irvine can be then seen walking away from the encounter and pretending his legs have buckled from shock.

Somebody in the room jokes: 'You've gone all red, Jackson.'

Irvine fires back: 'Mate, I'm sweating!'

FIFPRO shared the moment on their official Instagram page, titling it 'Even stars get starstruck.'

Casemiro earned his place in the FIFPRO World 11 by helping Real Madrid win the Champions League, LaLiga and the UEFA Super Cup last season.

He has also made a tremendous impact for United since he joined the club last year, helping transform the club's fortunes.

He has been a key cog in the project by Erik ten Hag since he took over at the start of the season.

He helped United to their first trophy recently as they beat Newcastle to win the Carabao Cup.

The World 11 in full is: Thibaut Courtois, Achraf Hakimi, Virgil Van Dijk, Joao Cancelo, Luka Modric, Kevin De Bruyne, Casemiro, Lionel Messi, Karim Benzema, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.
