The Public Investment Fund are said to be interested in bringing Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane to Saudi Arabia.
The PIF have named Al-Ettifaq as the 31-year-old's likely destination given the Saudi Pro League club have registered an interest in signing him.
However, the Saudi sovereign wealth fund have said that Mane is welcome to join whichever club he chooses - according to GetFootball.
Al-Ettifaq - who finished seventh in the league - are looking to reinforce their squad ahead of the 2023-2024 campaign and believe Mane would be a valuable addition.
The news of the PIF's interest in bringing Mane to Saudi Arabia comes shortly after Steven Gerrard was linked with taking over at Al-Ettifaq.
Gerrard has been out of work since he was sacked by Aston Villa last October but could return to action in Saudi Arabia this summer.
The 43-year-old was linked with the position at the weekend and it now appears he is close to being appointed as their head coach after being spotted in Saudi.
Gerrard's arrival at Al-Ettifaq may play a role in convincing Mane to join the Saudi Arabian side given their Liverpool connection.
Therefore, Mane could become the latest player to move to the Middle East - with Cristiano Ronaldo signing for Al-Nassr in January.
Karim Benzema also left Real Madrid for Al-Ittihad, while Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante has been linked with a Saudi move.
However, the PIF haven't swayed every player they've spoken to. Al-Hilal tried to sign Lionel Messi but the former PSG star elected to move to Inter Miami instead.
Nevertheless, Mane will leave Bayern this summer despite joining the Bundesliga champions in a deal worth an initial £27.4million from Liverpool last summer.
Mane scored 12 times for Bayern in an injury-disrupted campaign but it will be best remembered for his dressing room bust-up with Leroy Sane.
Al-Ettifaq will face stiff competition from Premier League giants Chelsea, as they look to secure the 31-year-old's services ahead of the 2023-2024 campaign.
