Premier League newboys Sheffield United have identified Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster as a target for next summer, should they stay up and the Hornets go down.

Former Manchester United keeper Foster has been a bright spark in an otherwise miserable season for Watford, who have won just once all season and are rooted to the bottom of the table.
A 2-1 loss to fellow strugglers Southampton has made their position considerably more desperate, with relegation looking inevitable, and Sheffield United are now said to be keen to offer Foster a Premier League lifeline.

The Blades are huge admirers of the 36-year-old and want him to join their squad and provide competition to current number one Dean Henderson, according to a report by the Sun.
United have swept aside fears of relegation with a confident start to the season. They are seventh in the table and have picked up points against Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham - beating Arsenal 1-0 at home in October.
While they are of course not mathematically safe, manager Chris Wilder is said to be planning for next season and wants another goalkeeper to strengthen his options in between the sticks.

Henderson is on loan at Sheffield United from Manchester United and has caught the eye, with England boss Gareth Southgate calling him up for his recent squads, but the Blades may not be able to secure his signature after he returns to Old Trafford in the summer - which means Wilder must make contingency plans.
Now that the 22-year-old's stock has risen, Man United will be able to raise his transfer fee considerably, so Foster represents a much cheaper option while still providing a reliable pair of hands.
