John Terry is looking to add another major prize to his trophy cabinet.
The former Chelsea and England star, 39, has been confirmed as one of eight captains taking part in a new, stay-at-home celebrity Esports tournament.
He will lead a team of three players in a virtual FIFA 20 computer game competition in a bid to be crowned champions of the inaugural NHS Charities Together Cup.
But the real winners will be the NHS with the star-studded online event bidding to raise at least £10million to help frontline heroes in their daily battle against Covid-19.
Fans can donate anything from £5 upwards to the relief cause and then vote to decide which member represents each team in the series of one-on-one matches.
Organisers hope they can smash their opening target of £10m when the event kicks off on Monday.
Leo Skagerlind, CEO of Celebrity Esports, said: “Like so many of us, I have loved ones on the NHS frontline and I wanted to do something to inspire people to donate.”
