Aston Villa are lining up a move for Bayer Leverkusen star Leon Bailey.

Villa have identified winger Bailey as an attainable target and are preparing an approach to his Bundesliga club.

Bailey, who has two years left on his current deal and is capable of playing on both flanks, is valued at between £25m-£30m. Villa boss Dean Smith is targeting another wide attacker, with Trezeguet recovering from a knee injury while the club would listen to offers for Anwar El Ghazi.

The exciting 23-year-old joined Leverkusen from Genk in 2017 and has repeatedly been on the radar of a number of clubs in England.

He has just enjoyed his best season so far for Leverkusen, scoring 15 goals and recording 11 assists in 40 appearances.

Villa have big plans for this window and are doing groundwork on a number of big-money, potential signings to add to Dean Smith’s squad.

They have already secured Emi Buendia from Norwich in a deal that could rise to £40m, as well as bringing back Ashley Young to the club on a free transfer.

They also made two bids for Arsenal starlet Emile Smith Rowe, in another bold move that signalled their intent, though their plans will also be governed by the future of captain Jack Grealish, a £100m target for Manchester City.

Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse and Tottenham’s Harry Winks have also been on Villa’s shortlist.
