Bayern Munich ready to take drastic action to stop Harry Kane transfer exit

Harry Kane is approaching the last 18 months of his contract with Bayern Munich and he's been linked with a move to Barcelona next summer when his £57million release clause becomes activate

Bayern Munich are set to break their own rule by offering Harry Kane a bumper new contract. Kane, 32, is in the form of his life, scoring 22 goals in just 16 games for the German giants.

The England captain has also helped Bayern enjoy a record-breaking start to the season, winning every single one of their matches so far. But amid their formidable run, Kane's future is under the microscope. Having signed a four-year deal with Bayern when he completed his £82million move from Spurs in August 2023, the striker has little over 18 months left on his contract. Kane's deal also includes a complex release clause worth £57m which will activate next summer.

A return to the Premier League has been mooted, with Tottenham understood to have first refusal on paying that release clause. But Barcelona are also reportedly keen on the ex-Spurs star.

It was reported over the weekend that Kane is open to joining Barca, where he'd likely succeed Robert Lewandowski, just as he did in spirit at Bayern. However, his current employers are drawing up a plan which they hope will convince the 32-year-old to stay put.

TalkSPORT claim that although Bayern's policy is to offer players over the age of 30 one-year extensions, there's 'clearly the will' to hand him a longer contract. It reflects how prolific Kane has been under Vincent Kompany, whose 10-man side beat Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 on Tuesday to maintain their perfect record in the Champions League.

The good news for Bayern chiefs is that Kane is loving life at the Allianz Arena and would be open to extending his stay. "In terms of staying there longer, I could definitely see that," he revealed last month.

"I have not had those conversations with Bayern yet but if they were to arise I would be willing to talk and have an honest conversation. Obviously, it depends on how the next year or so goes and what we achieve together.

Should Harry Kane move to Barcelona? Have your say in the comments section.

"Right now, I would say we are in a fantastic moment and I am not thinking about anything else. In terms of the Premier League, I don't know. If you had asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I would have said for sure I would come back.

"Now I have been there a couple of years, I would probably say that has gone down a little bit, not so much, but I wouldn't say I would never go back.

"What I have learnt in my career is that different opportunities and different timings happen and things fall in place. Going back to my first point with Bayern right now, I am fully all in with Bayern."
