Bayern Munich has reportedly shown interest in RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner for months and now it looks as if the talks have progressed to the “advanced” stage according to a report by Kicker (via Sport1).

Striker Timo Werner of RB Leipzig has only one year left on his contract with the Saxons until 2020. Now FC Bayern is apparently in “advanced negotiations” with him, according to the report,

RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner is in high demand at many top clubs. But now a report from kicker states that Bayern is in “intense negotiations” with Leipzig, aiming to reach an agreement in the summer. The chances of reaching an agreement are apparently not that bad, because the Saxons have to get rid of Werner in the coming summer, so that doesn’t leave on a free transfer in 2020.

Werner scored Leipzig’s lone goal in a 1-0 win over Schalke on Saturday. Werner now has 14 goals and three assists in 27 games across all competitions this season, including 12 goals in the Bundesliga. Bayern’s Champions League foe Liverpool is rumored to have a strong interest in Werner as well.
