How are Europe's elite looking ahead of next season with current players?

The transfer window officially opened on July 1, but clubs had been working on their new arrivals for some time before that, meaning a number of players have already been signed, sealed and delivered at their new clubs.

There's still a long summer to come, with more transfers a certainty. Big players will change shirts, but Europe's biggest sides' starting XIs are already taking shape.

Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane will have some more work to do before deciding his preferred line-up for next season, with a number of players' futures still up in the air, while there could be one possible arrival in Paul Pogba.

As things stand though, he could use a 4-4-2 although a 4-3-3 appears the most likely.

Atletico

Los Rojiblancos have to completely restructure with Antoine Griezmann's departure, as well as Rodri Hernandez, and not to mention Diego Godin and Juanfran at the back.

Felipe Monteiro is in to replace the Uruguayan, Marcos Llorente will fill the void in midfield while Joao Felix will be expected to fill the boots of the man whose No.7 shirt he has taken.

Barcelona

Ernesto Valverde aims to maintain the structure of last season, but with some slight improvements. Frenkie de Jong is in, and Griezmann will follow, as the parts of the system are upgraded.

Philippe Coutinho will be one of those who falls out of the side, and Neymar could add yet further strength should he return.

Juventus

Maurizio Sarri has joined on the bench, but their main additions have come in midfield in the form of Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey.

Mario Mandzukic is apparently close to leaving, though Paulo Dybala is also facing an uncertain future.

Man City

There won't be major changes at the Etihad Stadium, but Rodri's arrival will be huge for Pep Guardiola. Despite reports of Joao Cancelo arriving, Kyle Walker is backed by Pep and recently renewed his contract.

With David Silva to leave at the end of next season, he may have a replacement brought in to learn the ropes.

Liverpool

Like City, the Reds aren't changing much next term as Jurgen Klopp likes what he has. James Milner will rotate with Georginio Wijnaldum, while Joel Matip and Joe Gomez could swap in and out.

Tottenham

After reaching the Champions League final, the main objective is to keep the stars. Tanguy Ndombele has arrived already, but others may come. Christian Eriksen, meanwhile, is being shopped around by Daniel Levy.

Bayern

They'll move more than most this summer. Lucas Hernandez is already in place, as is Benjamin Pavard.

The Bavarians also want Marc Roca, and with James Rodriguez, Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery leaving, it'll be up to Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman to step up on the wings.

PSG

Neymar may well leave this summer to return to Barcelona but beyond Ander Herrera, there is not much talk of a big arrival in Paris.

Chelsea

Returning to the Champions League with Frank Lampard on the bench, their transfer ban and losing Eden Hazard won't help. Christian Pulisic is already in, though, and Mateo Kovacic has become a permanent signing.

Man United

New signings Daniel James and Wan-Bissaka would join Solskjaer's line-up, Pogba and Lukaku still stuck into exit rumours

Arsenal

With Ramsey, Cech, Welbeck and co. left Arsenal this summer, The Gunners currently only making one signing - 18-year-old Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli.
