James Rodriguez: If we keep playing the way we are, we're going to be champions

James Rodriguez has insisted that Bayern Munich will be champions if they can keep up their red-hot form.

The Colombian attacking midfielder has played a central role in reviving the club's domestic fortunes in recent weeks with three assists and four goals in his last three games.

During that time Bayern have hit the back of the net 17 times thanks to back-to-back 6-0 drubbings of Wolfsburg and Mainz following a 5-1 win away at Borussia Monchengladbach.

And James is confident of a seventh-straight Bundesliga title if they maintain their strong performances.

'I'm not thinking about Dortmund, just about the work we're doing,' James told bundesliga.com after the Mainz game.

'If we keep playing the way we are, we're going to be champions.'

Borussia Dortmund appeared to be running away with the championship title but hit a major crisis in form in February which allowed Niko Kovac's side a title reprieve.

BVB drew three consecutive matches and also crashed out of the Champions League against Tottenham Hotspur. After starting March with a defeat to Augsburg, they have steadied the ship with three consecutive wins.

But that hasn't stopped Bayern radically overhauling their goal difference to leapfrog them in the table, boosted by the creative and goal-scoring instincts of James who netted his first hat-trick for the club against Mainz.

'I'm happy to have scored my first hat-trick here,' the Colombian added.

'I hope to get more. The most important thing is that we played well. We've scored a lot of goals in our last few games in the Bundesliga, so I'm happy about that.'

Bayern, who are tied on 60 points with Dortmund but have seven-goal cushion over their rivals, travel to Freiburg next after the international break.
