James Rodriguez and Bayern Munich, a total divorce

James Rodriguez's two-year loan at Bayern Munich is coming to an end and it doesn't look like the Colombian will make his stay in Germany permanent.

The midfielder hasn't started any of the club's last four games, spending three of those on the bench and one in the stands.

Reports say that Rodriguez's lack of action has been down to injury problems, with his last appearance for Bayern ending at half time of their DFB-Pokal clash with Heidenheim at the start of April due to muscle problems.

However, the nature of the situation suggests that Niko Kovac is refusing to use him, even if he is fully fit, due to his unwillingness to stay.

The Colombian has recently told the Bayern board that he wishes to leave when his loan from Real Madrid ends this summer, rather than the Bundesliga side make his move permanent.

Bayern president Uli Hoeness has previously said that he will not pay the 42-million-pound purchase fee for a player that doesn't start.

Rodriguez's relationship with his coach has deteriorated in recent weeks, with Kovac leaving him out of the team to face Borussia Dortmund a couple of weeks ago.

"We dropped James Rodriguez and Leon Goretzka against Dortmund for technical reasons," Kovac said before Bayern's cup semi-final with Werder Bremen.

"This decision led to us winning 5-0, so you ask yourself, 'why would I change anything?'."

The only thing that could see James reinstated at Bayern and a permanent move to Bavaria for him next season would be the departure of Kovac.

A return to play for Madrid was made more complicated by the appointment of Zinedine Zidane as coach last month, with the pair not having the best of relationships in the past.
