McManaman: Haaland likes Real Madrid

Erling Haaland's future is one of the most spoken-about things in European football lately. Everyone is talking about the Borussia Dortmund forward and speculating about his next move.

The Norwegian is expected to leave the German club this coming summer, with a clause in his contract becoming active that will allow him to leave if a release clause is met.

"Of course it'll be difficult, but we'll do everything we can to keep our best players," said Hans-Joachim Watzke.

Former Real Madrid player Steve McManaman has had his say on Haaland's future as well, and he's hopeful that Los Blancos will be his next more.

"Do I think Liverpool will be in the fight to sign him next summer? No," McManaman said in a column for horseracing.net. "I really think he'll go to Real Madrid and the player personally likes the idea of the club, the lifestyle, and all that comes with playing for them.

"I don't think the fee will be why Liverpool won't sign him. It's all the other variables of signing a player of his calibre. He'd be on a huge salary and all of the other players would want the same.

"Mino Raiola would also want a lot of money himself, and I don't think Liverpool want to get involved in that."
