The Champions League stats that Real Madrid are dominating

The BBC trident of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema will be long remembered as one of Real Madrid's greatest forward lines, however it's the current midfield of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro that is leading the charge towards yet another Champions League.

Statistics recorded in the Champions League show just how key these three have been this season, with Kroos top of the tournament's ranking for passes completed. The German has found a teammate 851 times and has a completion rate of 92 percent.

Modric is third on this list and just one pass behind Ruben Dias of Manchester City, while Lucas Vazquez is eighth and Raphael Varane is 11th.

Kroos has been immense this campaign and ranks third in the 2020/21 Champions League statistics for distance covered, having run 98,381 metres so far.

His teammate Ferland Mendy tops this statistic, however, with a total distance of 102,703 metres covered over 10 matches. Lucas Vazquez also features in eighth place despite having missed two matches due to injury.

Attacking stats

Of the four teams remaining in the competition, Real Madrid are the side who register most shots on goal (14.6 shots per game).

Only Pep Guardiola's Manchester City pass the ball more than Los Blancos, yet their possession stats are almost the same, with the English side enjoying 89 percent of possession and Real Madrid having 88 percent.
