Ajax substitute Magallan's costly slip lead to Tottenham's winner

The Ajax players will be waking up this morning wishing Wednesday night never happened.

But probably none more so than Lisandro Magallan who came on as a substitute in the 90th minute.

Ajax were leading the tie 3-2 on aggregate as the clock struck the 96th minute of the match.

When the long ball was floated towards the penalty area by Moussa Sissoko, Fernando Llorente managed to flick the ball into Dele Alli's direction.

Just as Alli was about to control the ball, Magallan slipped behind him and could not close the Tottenham midfielder down quickly enough.

As a result, the Spurs man was able to play the pass to Lucas Moura who went on to complete his hat-trick and knock the Eredivise side out of the competition thanks to the away goals rule.

Mauricio Pochettino's side lost the first leg 1-0 before finding themselves 2-0 down at half-time at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Then Moura went on to score a hat-trick in the second half as the north London club won the match 3-2 on the night.
