Arsenal have submitted their Premier League squad for the 2023/24 season

Arsenal have announced their Premier League squad for the 2023/24 season.

The Gunners, along with the other 19 clubs competing in the top flight of English football this campaign, have been required to submit a 25-man squad. Within it, no more than 17 overseas players can be named, with the remaining eight spots going to homegrown members.

As per regulations, to be considered homegrown, players need to have been registered with any club affiliated to The Football Association or the Welsh FA for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons, or 36 months, before his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21).

Meanwhile, Premier League rules state: "An Under 21 player is defined as one who is under the age of 21 on 1st January in the year in which the season commences and are eligible over and above the limit of 25 players per squad. As a result, for the 2023/24 campaign, Under-21 players will have been born on or after 1 January 2002."

In truth, there aren't many surprises with Arsenal's selections. William Saliba, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli have all been included in the main list having been classed as U21 players last season whilst summer signings Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and David Raya have been registered too.

Going by the club's official website, the Gunners have 25 senior players listed. However, only 24 have been included in the Premier League squad and there's a perfectly good explanation for that as goalkeeper Karl Hein is included on the U21s list.

Mohamed Elneny, Kai Havertz, James Hillson*, Gabriel Jesus, Jorginho, Jakub Kiwior, Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli, Reiss Nelson*, Eddie Nketiah*, Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, Aaron Ramsdale*, David Raya*, Declan Rice*, Bukayo Saka*, William Saliba*, Emile Smith Rowe*, Cedric Soares, Jurrien Timber, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Leandro Trossard, Fabio Vieira, Ben White*, Oleksandr Zinchenko.
