Carew was Arsenal's destroyer and is now an actor

Valencia have fond memories of European nights against Arsenal as the two prepare to meet again in this season's Europa League semi-finals, though those previous clashes came in the Champions League.

They came up against one another in consecutive seasons, and on both occasions there was one man who stood out above the rest, John Carew.

During the 1999/2000 season, Los Che beat the Gunners 2-1 down to the Norwegian's work, as he scored twice to send the Spanish side through from the group and leave Arsenal behind.

A year later, he did it again. This time the two were drawn together in the quarter-finals. Valencia won 1-0 and 2-1, with Carew scoring each of the LaLiga Santander side's strikes.

Carew sentenced the Gunners twice. Now, in his post-footballing days, he has dabbled in the world of cinema and appeared in a couple of films. Dead of Winter (2014) and Hovdinger (2015) both featured the former footballer.

At the moment, he has a small role in Maleficent 2, the Disney blockbuster also starring Angelina Jolie.
