Gareth Bale missed Real Madrid training on Monday with muscular pain after playing 30 minutes in Sunday's 3-1 win over Eibar.

The Welshman, who has suffered numerous injury problems during his time with the Spanish club, was rested by medical staff.

They fear overloading Bale too soon and the winger is anticipated to be back in action on Tuesday, according to AS.

Bale made his 250th appearance for the club on Sunday in the first LaLiga game back for Zinedine Zidane's side since the season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He came off the bench, replacing Eden Hazard an hour into the contest at Alfredo di Stefano stadium.

Bale looked slightly off the pace with a pass completion percentage of just 63, losing the ball five times.

Medical staff are optimistic that Bale is simply building up full match fitness again and are wary of pushing him too hard.

When the Real squad returned to training, Bale missed a number of sessions due to physical overload and his progress was slower than some team-mates.

He may be given another chance to build on his fitness levels in Real's next LaLiga clash against Valencia on Thursday night.
