Alessandro Del Piero's penalty conquers Old Trafford in the Champions League group stage on 20 November 1996.

Juventus is a super power of European football. The Champions League holders travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United on Matchday Five of the 1996/97 Champions League group stage. The Bianconeri know that only one point will take them into the Last 16.

Not willing to let their guard down, the Old Lady line up with her first XI and start the game well, imposing their play on the Premier League champions. The pressure tells and in the 35th minute, Alessandro Del Piero enters the box from the right-hand side and manages to force Nicky Butt into making a challenge that hands Juventus a penalty.

Del Piero steps up and makes no mistake from 12 yards, firing in a perfect effort into the top-left corner. It proves the match-winner and the goal that guarantees Juve's progress into the next round, not only that but it's the goal that sealed the first ever Italian victory at Old Trafford.
