Tottenham have confirmed their squad numbers ahead of their 2023/24 Premier League opener against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium
James Maddison has taken on the No.10 shirt at Tottenham Hotspur following Harry Kane's departure to Bayern Munich. Signed from Leicester City in June, Spurs fans, and the player himself, have been waiting quite a while for confirmation over his official shirt number for the 2023/24 campaign.
Wearing No.71 in pre-season, many anticipated that the attacking midfielder would inherit the famous No.10 shirt providing that Kane exited Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to join Bayern Munich. Following the striker's move to Bavaria which was finally confirmed on Saturday morning, Maddison has taken on the shirt number for the new campaign.
The 26-year-old is no stranger to the number having worn it previously during his time playing for Leicester City. Maddison isn't the only player to be handed a new shirt number for the 2023/24 season as fellow summer signings Destiny Udogie and Manor Solomon squad numbers have also been revealed.
Udogie, who had No.73 on his back in pre-season, will wear No.38 after returning to Tottenham following his time on loan with Udinese last season. Previously wearing No.13 for Udinese and Italy Under-21s, the number wasn't vacant at Spurs after new signing Guglielmo Vicario took over the shirt following his summer move from Empoli.
Solomon is Tottenham's new No.27, taking over the jersey after Lucas Moura's exit following the culmination of his contract. Fellow new signing Ashley Phillips is Spurs' No.35, with Alejo Veliz No.36 and Micky van de Ven No.37.
