Jose Mourinho wants to bring Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric back to Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports in Spain.
The Spurs boss has already brought back one Real player back to north London in recent times with the loan signing of Gareth Bale earlier this year after a seven-year stay in the Spanish capital.
Modric left Tottenham one year before Bale did in a £30million deal to the LaLiga giants, with the Croatian midfielder winning two league titles, four Champions League trophies and three Club World Cups with Los Blancos.
And according to Spanish news programme El Chiringuito de Jugones, Mourinho s in contact with the 35-year-old to bring the player to Spurs in 2021 as his contract expires in June.
The Portuguese boss signed the Croatian at the Santiago Bernabeu eight years ago with Modric scoring four times in 53 games under Mourinho as Real finished as LaLiga runners-up and reached the Champions League finals in the 2012-13 season.
Modric is free to negotiate with any team on January 1 but the Croatian midfielder has admitted he is happy in Spain and wants to end his career in Madrid.
The player said last month: 'I feel good, I feel strong, and I still have plenty of football in my legs and strengths to continue, but let's see what happens in the future.
'I've said many times and I'll say it again, I'm very happy at Madrid and I'd love to end my career here, but let's see what happens.
'Who wouldn't want to end their career at Real Madrid? But it depends on a lot of things. But there is no-one who'd be happier than me to continue at Real Madrid.'
Spanish news outlet AS claimed earlier this month that Modric has earned the right to stay at Madrid following some impressive performances this season.
The midfielder has started all but four of Real's 19 matches this season and has netted twice in all competitions since the start of the season.
During his four-year spell at Tottenham, Modric played over 150 times for the north London club, scoring 17 goals but failed to lift a trophy during this time.
He was, however, voted the club's Player of the Season during the 2010-11 season as Spurs finished fifth under Harry Redknapp.
As well as several club honours at Real Madrid, Modric was awarded the Ballon D'Or in 2018 ahead of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe after winning the Champions League with the Spanish club and guiding Croatia to the World Cup final in Russia.
