Newcastle fans left furious at still being charged for NEXT year season tickets

Newcastle United have been accused of a 'dereliction of duty' by supporters who continue to wait for answers as to if and when ticket money for this season will be refunded.

On top of that, fans are furious that season-ticket payments for 2020-21 continue to be taken from their bank accounts.

The Magpies say a decision is still pending on what their policy will be, even though it has been confirmed that all games for the remainder of this campaign will be played behind closed doors.

The proposed Saudi-led takeover of the club is thought to be a complicating factor, but fans are frustrated at the absence of any communication from the current regime.

A letter to managing director Lee Charnley from the Newcastle United Supporters' Trust (NUST) read: 'We understand the club finds itself in a complex situation in light of the prospective sale of the club by the incumbent owner.

'That does not give you a legitimate right to a dereliction of duty to your supporters. Without supporters, Newcastle United does not exist.

'We have previously contacted Newcastle United to express our concerns at the lack of action by Newcastle United to assist its supporters in a time of need during this unprecedented global health and economic crisis.

'You have called on the fans of Newcastle United for support so often over the years and when we called for you to stand by your supporters, you did nothing.'

Fans who have paid for tickets to attend the FA Cup home tie with Manchester City or the Premier League trip to Bournemouth cannot understand why they have not already been refunded, while season-ticket holders are also expecting a partial refund.

An NUST statement read: 'Newcastle fans should not find themselves in a situation where they are concerned about what is going to happen with their money, which they are entitled to.

'Some supporters won't be in an urgent situation to reclaim the funds, but some will be.

'Newcastle fans also don't deserve to be left behind the rest of the league in waiting to hear from their football club with what it intends to do with hundreds of pounds of their money.

'We implore Newcastle United to offer support to those fans dealing with many financial difficulties right now, and to do this with a matter of urgency.'
