Neymar's former agent has revealed that Chelsea once made a serious attempt to sign the Brazilian superstar.

Chelsea's interest in the starlet came when the then 17-year-old youngster was learning his trade at Santos back in 2010.

The Blues were one of several top European clubs who enquired about his availability, and his agent at the time Wagner Ribiero admitted the move was considered.

'There were many calls for him,' Ribiero recalled to AS. 'I received an official offer from Chelsea the day Neymar debuted with the Brazilian team in 2010.

'They made an offer, we studied it, but in the end we didn't decide anything. On that occasion we transferred it to Neymar's father and the player himself.

'Then came other offers from Bayern Munich and Juventus with whom I had a meeting in Turin.'

A move to Chelsea back in 2010 would have seen him join the then reigning Premier League champions under manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Santos' former president, Luis Alvaro de Oliveira Ribiero, has previously claimed that Chelsea's offer was valued around £25m.

Neymar and his representatives are believed to have agreed terms at a private meeting with Chelsea chiefs, before later changing their mind to stay at Santos to further his development.

Barcelona would go on to sign Neymar, three years after Chelsea's initial interest.

The Brazilian would form the legendary 'MSN' front line consisting of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and himself.

He won two LaLiga titles in Spain as well as the 2014-15 Champions League, before joining Paris Saint-Germain for a world record £200m fee.

The 28-year-old has won two Ligue 1 titles in Paris, but has been linked with a move away from the club back to Barcelona.
