OFFICIAL: Hansi Flick has been sacked by DFB as the German National Team manager
The shareholders' meeting and supervisory board of DFB GmbH und Co. KG today decided, at the suggestion of DFB President Bernd Neuendorf, to relieve national team coach Hansi Flick and the two co-coaches Marcus Sorg and Danny Röhl of their duties with immediate effect.
Bernd Neuendorf: "The committees agreed that the senior men's national team needs a new impulse after the recent disappointing results. We need a spirit of optimism and confidence with a view to the European Championship in our own country. For me personally, it is one of the most difficult decisions in my tenure so far. Because I value Hansi Flick and his co-coaches as football experts and people. However, sporting success has top priority for the DFB. Therefore, the decision was inevitable."
Rudi Völler, Hannes Wolf and Sandro Wagner will coach the national team on a one-off basis at next Tuesday's international match in Dortmund against runners-up France. The goal is to find a successor for Hansi Flick as soon as possible.
