Former Leicester midfielder and Premier League winner Shinji Okazaki has signed a one-year deal with Spanish second division side Malaga.

The 33-year-old attacking midfielder was a major part of the Foxes' title-winning campaign in 2015-16, but was out of contract this summer and left the club.

He has now been announced as Malaga's big summer signing as they plot their way back into La Liga having just missed out in the play-off semi-finals last season.

Announcing the signing, a Malaga tweet read: 'Champion of the Premier League, three times in the World Cup and the first Japanese player in our history...'

In a statement on their website, the club revealed: 'The new Blue and White player passed the medical last week, joining his team-mates in the pre-season stage in Estepona.

'Tomorrow, Wednesday he will be officially presented, at 12:30, at the "Juan Cortes" press room at La Rosaleda.'

Okazaki joined Leicester in 2015 from Mainz, where he brought four years in the Bundesliga to a close.

He played 36 times in the league in their title-winning campaign, but has since seen his appearances drop every season, and he played 21 times last time out, not scoring a single goal.

At 33, the Japan international - capped 119 times by his country - is reaching the twilight years of his career, but is still likely to be the star man in Malaga's team.

He will join the likes of former Liverpool midfielder Dani Pacheco and ex-Barcelona youth star Jony Rodriguez on the Costa del Sol.

Malaga did have Scotland U19s forward Jack Harper on their books last season, but he has since signed for La Liga surprise package Getafe this summer.
